Landscape designs
Before starting on your landscape designs, you need to know the essential principles of landscape design to be able to succeed. Principles in landscape designs are important so that you can have ideas that are more creative. However, it is not necessary to apply every single principle in landscape designs to your own project.
The beauty of landscape designs depends on the designers. Rules on landscape designs do not have to limit your creativity. Feel free to do whatever you think will look great. The most important thing is your own imagination.
For successful landscape designs, here are the principles that can help you to be more creative.
Unity or consistency and repetition are the most important factors in the design. Unity is achieved by repetition. This is done by using similar elements such as plant groups, plants or decorations in your landscape. Unity is achieved by consistency by making different factors in your landscape come together as one whole design. The consistency of the characters of element in a design results to unity. These characters include the size, height, color schemes, textures and others.
Creating themes is a good and simple way to achieve unity. An idea of having a little garden décor is on of the simplest methods in creating a theme. Think about something that interests you and make it as an inspiration for your theme garden. If you love butterflies, put plats and flowers that can catch the attention of butterflies. You can use other ornaments, statues and other decorations related to butterflies to create a more interesting look.
Simplicity is important in creating your landscape design. If you are a beginner in landscape design, follow this principle. You can add more elements in your design eventually. Choosing two to three colors in planting plants and flowers and repeating them around your garden is a good idea. Keep your design simple and within a particular theme.
Balance or the sense of equality is another principle to keep in mind. There are two kinds of balance, symmetrical and asymmetrical.
Use plants in order to achieve harmony and contrast. If you have fine foliage in your garden, put contrast by having coarser foliage. If plants with round leaves are present, add plants with spiked leaves as well. Color contrasts and color complements are also necessary to achieve an attractive landscape design.
Plant texture, height and color should have a variety in different areas but make sure that you are consistent with your theme. If you cannot think of a good theme, it is helpful to look at different magazines that can provide designs and themes in which you can follow.
Remember to take advantage of colors to achieve dimension and attraction to your landscape. Cool colors such as shades of blues, greens and pastel can make objects seem far while bright colors such as yellows, oranges and reds make objects seem to be closer. On the other hand, neutral colors such as blacks, whites and grays are best for the background. Take advantage of the effects of colors in your landscape design.
